Research
The main research topics include:
- Investigating alterations in energy metabolism and energy transfer during cancer development. Research is conducted using human colorectal and breast cancer clinical samples, as well as cancer cell culture models.
- Studying the regulation of the mitochondrial respiratory chain and integrated cellular energy transfer networks in muscle cells.
- Investigating whether, and how, chronic disease-related metabolic changes are reflected in the energy metabolism of blood cells, with a particular focus on platelets as a model system.
- Improving the physiological relevance and reliability of cell culture models for disease research by optimizing growth conditions.
- Modeling and investigating oxidative stress in cancer, cardiac, and neuronal cell culture models.
