On October 9.-10., National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics helped to kick off the Balt-Plast-Free<\/a> project. The EU Interreg Central Baltic Programme<\/a> co-funded Balt-Plast-Free (2025-28; budget of 2.57 mln \u20ac) which is a Finnish-Estonian cooperation.<\/p>\n

Our goal is to reduce microplastics emission from wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) in Finland and Estonia and assure preparedness for future EU regulations. Via pilot technical solutions implemented in Mikkeli (Finland) and Elva (Estonia) WWTPs, the aim is to reduce microplastics emissions at least by 50%. Balt-Plast-Free mobile lab vehicle will spread the word about plastic pollution in the programme area.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
