Research is conducted using human colorectal and breast cancer clinical samples, as well as cancer cell culture models.<\/li>\n<li>Studying the regulation of the mitochondrial respiratory chain and integrated cellular energy transfer networks in muscle cells.<\/li>\n<li>Investigating whether, and how, chronic disease-related metabolic changes are reflected in the energy metabolism of blood cells, with a particular focus on platelets as a model system.<\/li>\n<li>Improving the physiological relevance and reliability of cell culture models for disease research by optimizing growth conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Modeling and investigating oxidative stress in cancer, cardiac, and neuronal cell culture models.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kbfi.ee\/en\/cb\/research\/publications\/\">Our publications:<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The main research topics include: Investigating alterations in energy metabolism and energy transfer during cancer development.
